Celebrity Yearbook: 2013

If the world of pop culture was a giant high school, who'd make the superlative pages of the yearbook?

Most Popular: Jennifer Lawrence
In a celeb world packed with egos, Jennifer Lawrence has navigated the difficult terrain of newfound stardom with a little humility, and a lot of charm. She's gorgeous, talented, down-to-earth, and genuinely hilarious. But best of all, she comes off as totally unpretentious. Whether she's making references to your favorite movies, tripping during the biggest moment of her career, complaining about being hungry, embarrassing her co-stars, or making one of her ever-GIF-able faces, Jennifer Lawrence can do no wrong.

Most Changed: Selena Gomez
Last year, this title went to Miley Cyrus after she chopped off all her hair and kicked off her punk rock phase. Selena Gomez's transformation this year was less obvious. The Disney queen went completely against type for her first major film role when she signed on for Harmony Korine's Spring Breakers. Instead of casting cute spells on Wizards of Waverly Place, Gomez was getting loaded and arrested while living in a bikini 24/7. But the changes didn't just happen on the screen. She's single for the first time in her adult life since Justin Bieber made the mistake of calling things off. From the looks of her new video, Gomez is embracing her single status and grown-up sexuality. Poor Bieber.

Class Clown: Rebel Wilson
Whether she's at the center of things or on the periphery, Rebel Wilson has a way of stealing the show thanks to her quick, biting wit, self-deprecating sense of humor, and willingness to go for jokes both large and small. She was the best thing about the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, got the biggest laughs in Pitch Perfect, and owned the late-night talk show circuit. Hollywood's definitely noticed: In addition to a Pitch sequel, Rebel's got a new TV series (Super Fun Night) coming to ABC. She calls it the "anti-Sex and the City … because no one gets laid or has any fashion sense."

Biggest Geek: Anna Kendrick
Don't let her acting chops and good looks fool you. Anna Kendrick is totally down to geek out over zombies or Game of Thrones. You wouldn't often do hear a Hollywood starlet say, "I'm into The Walking Dead, Shaun of the Dead, obviously, and I've seen all the Romero movies. I am a classic zombie queen." HBO took note of Kendrick's GoT obsession after she posted a photo of herself in a Direwolves T-shirt with the caption "nerd boner" and sent her a customized collector's box of DVDs that plays the show's theme song when opened. Oh, and she also made choir club cool again this year thanks to Pitch Perfect.

Most Likely to Make the Olympics: Ryan Gosling
If Handsomest Dreamboat was an Olympic sport, then Ryan Gosling would be on the cover of Wheaties boxes instead of Michael Phelps and Gabby Douglas. Alas, the IOC doesn't appreciate perfectly chiseled features like they do breaststrokes and double pikes. But don't count Gosling out of Olympic competition just yet. Thanks to his Muay Thai prep work for the upcoming Only God Forgives, we could see him making a run at Team Canada's boxing squad.

Most Likely to Stay 2gether 4ever: Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt
They've just celebrated a year of being engaged, have six children together, share similar philanthropic goals, and they're inseparable when they hit the red carpet together. But this year, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt lived up to the "in sickness and in health" part of the vows they'll one day take when Brad was right by Angelina's side during her double mastectomy and subsequent oophorectomy. If they can get through that together, they can get through anything.

Most Likely to Steal Your Boyfriend: Emilia Clarke
Emilia Clarke won't steal your boyfriend because she's the boyfriend-stealing type. If it happens, it's because she has perfect woman written all over her, starting with the fact that she's a badass warrior princess on Game of Thrones. Finding a celebrity who's beautiful is easy. But finding a celeb who's down-to-earth, sweet, humble, funny, smart, interesting, comes with an accent accent, loves dragon, and is ALSO beautiful? That's a lot harder to find.

Most Likely to Steal Your Girlfriend: Ian Somerhalder
Sorry guys, but now that Ian Somerhalder's single again, you've all just dropped in the rankings. Put aside his dreamboat face and perfectly sculpted features, and you still have to contend with a whole slew of his other positive attributes. He's on a hit TV show. He started his own charity. He's pretty damn hilarious (just check out his Twitter feed), and, perhaps most importantly, he loves to cuddle with puppies. How is any other dude supposed to compete with that?

Most Sassy: Taylor Swift
Calling out your ex-boyfriend during a nationally televised live performance: sassy. Making a gag face when you see your friend kiss her ex: sassy. Making this face when Adele won her Golden Globe: sassy. Copping a 'tude when a reporter insinuated she lip-synched: sassy. Taking the stage of the Billboard Music Awards in a shirt with "haters gonna hate" emblazoned on it: sassy. No matter how you slice it, this year Taylor Swift is the queen of sass (and she's all the more likable for it).

Teacher's Pet: Anne Hathaway
Thanks to her work as Fantine in Les Miserables, Anne Hathaway was as close to a sure thing as there was this awards season. She was named Best Supporting Actress by all but two organizations: the New York and L.A. critics circles. Still, she managed to act shocked every time her name was called and delivered equally surprised, eager-to-please acceptance speeches across the board. Plus, at the 2013 Critics' Choice Awards, she used her thank-you time to call out the poor PA who spelled her name wrong in the nomination reel. That's like the kid in class who raises her hand to remind the teacher she forgot to assign homework.

Most Sensitive: Chris Pine
Chris Pine may be used to playing the stoic captain of the U.S.S Enterprise, but he's a big softy in real life. "I cry all the time," Pine told Men's Health in a 2013 interview. "At work, at the shrink's office, with my lady. The Notebook killed me. Up destroyed me. Up was like the animated Amour." Pine's become so well-known for his emotional side, Ellen DeGeneres spent an entire segment of her show trying to get him to cry with images of adorable kittens and the soulful sounds of Lionel Richie.

Most Free-Spirited: Miley Cyrus
One of the downsides of growing up in the public eye is that every single phase or experiment with identity is documented by photographers and media outlets. Miley Cyrus doesn't seem to care though — she's owning her punky new look and call-it-like-she-sees-it attitude. She's called out Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez fans, took the tabloids to task for questioning her engagement to Liam Hemsworth, partied with strippers for her birthday, showed the world how she twerks, cut a song with Snoop Dogg, and admitted she was down to make out with Rihanna. And if you believe her Twitter, she's "never felt more me in my whole life."

Biggest Party Animal: Rihanna
All you have to do is visit Rihanna’s Instagram, or check out her documentary the 777 Tour to know that the girl likes to party “Hard” (like her single implies). There’s the sky high party she hosted on a Boeing 777 in which she served up endless glasses of champagne, all the photos she likes to post of herself lighting up, and, of course, all those glamorous poolside selfies she takes with a tropical cocktail in hand. Life is good, yes?

Best Dressed: Miranda Kerr
Former Victoria’s Secret Angel Miranda Kerr can do no wrong in the fashion department. Whether she’s strutting down the runway, or strolling side-by-side with her little man Flynn, the 30-year-old Aussie is always dressed to the nines. Recently, she stole the show with a simple but elegant Michael Kors cut-out dress at the 2013 Met Gala, and she rocked The Great Gatsby premiere in a bold floral jumpsuit. When hanging around town, nobody does cute jean jackets and mini skirts better, especially when they're accessorized with designer sunglasses, stylish hats, and handbags any girl would crave.

Best Smile: Frank Ocean
It doesn’t matter if the smooth R&B singer is accepting an award on stage or globetrotting the world in his latest music video “Lost” — it’s all over when Frank Ocean flashes those pearly whites. He doesn’t reveal that megawatt smile often, but when he does its power is undeniable. How else do you explain those blogs and Tumblr accounts his flashy grin has recently inspired?

Best Dancer: Miguel
Smooth crooning Miguel was definitely feeling the music when he took the stage at the 2013 Billboard Music Awards to sultry it up with a performance of “Adorn.” Miguel brought out his best James Brown splits, slides, and twirls, and caressed the mic like it was lady love herself. But as the singer later admitted, he got lost in his groove when he took his sweet moves airborne — jumping from one segment of the stage to the other and over a crowd of screaming fans. The singer missed the mark, however, causing his boot, and his crotch, to land smack in the face of an unsuspecting fan. Ouch.

Most Likely to Join the Circus: Ke$ha
When Ke$ha went out into the world to promote her new single, "Die Young," last fall, she seemed to pop up everywhere with a full-blown cirus act complete with glitter, cartwheels, and plenty of freaks. The girl's got the circus look too. Whether it's her epic cornrows, her jungle queen style, or Jim Carrey's tux from Dumb and Dumber (at left), the “Crazy Kids” singer definitely has what it takes to be a ringleader.

Queens of Drama: Mariah Carey & Nicki Minaj
American Idol producers discovered they can’t have two divas at one judges table this past season. Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey raised tension behind the scenes and onscreen with name calling, cursing, and interruptions. It seemed like a show couldn't go by without one of them questioning the other’s hit-making powers. “I thought we were friends,” Minaj told Ryan Seacrest in a recent interview. Not so. Eventually, Carey’s hubby Nick Canon weighed in on all the drama saying the “#Beautiful” singer “didn’t sign up for this.” Neither did producers, who are rumored to be in the process of swapping all the judges for new ones after the lowest-rated season of AI yet.

Most Likely to Survive the Apocalypse: The Hemsworths
If the world were to end today whether by nuclear disaster, global climate change, or a freak meteor strike, you bet we’d want brothers Chris, Liam, and Luke by our side. For one, Chris could probably help us avoid Earth’s deadly disaster by transporting us straight to Asgard and then doing cool Thor-like things with that hammer of his. Liam actually lives in a post-apocalyptic world in The Hunger Games, and, if we recall, Luke once had a stint on the Australian TV show Last Man Standing, so we’re all good there.

Best Guy to Take Home to Mom: Bradley Cooper
The Hangover Part III actor has it all. He’s tall, has lovely eyes, great abs, and knows how to work a suit. But it’s Bradley Cooper's charm and sense of humor that makes him the reason we’d introduce him to mom. He's given a newly engaged news anchor flowers on live television, and played Faceketball with Jimmy Fallon. But the major selling point? The 38-year-old actor has been living with his mother, Gloria, for the past few years. “She’s a cool chick” he recently told Details magazine. And any fan of Mom is a fan of ours too.

Most Likely to Succeed: Chloe Grace-Moretz
Chloe Moretz burst onto the scene as the foul-mouthed, purpled haired crime fighting Hit Girl in 2010’s Kick-Ass. Three years later the 16-year-old star is still on the rise. This summer we’ll see her soaked in pig’s blood in the much-anticipated Carrie reboot, and once again see Hit Girl kick serious butt in Kick-Ass 2. Moretz's endless acting range and ability to land top film roles alongside Hollywood mainstays has us impressed. Over the next few years we’ll be seeing her in nearly a dozen films, including Dark Places with Charlize Theron, Laggies opposite Keira Knightley, and The Equalizer with Denzel Washington. Stay tuned.

Most Likely to Be a Superhero: Beyoncé
There’s a reason why Beyoncé sang “Run the World” with such believable force and power — because she really does run the world. When it comes to the art of multitasking and doing just about everything awesomely, Beyoncé wins. She battles herself in soda ads, takes care of young Blue Ivy, travels the world with hubby Jay-Z, wards off creepy fans who dare touch her bedazzled heiny with super poise and grace, and still has plenty of time to work it out for thousands of screaming fans on her Mrs. Carter World Tour. Beyoncé isn’t most just the most likely celeb to be a superhero. She already is one.
