2013 Oscar Winners

And the Winners Are...
The Academy Awards are Hollywood's biggest night and this year all of the hottest stars in Tinseltown were out to celebrate the best films of 2012. Keep clicking to find out which of your favorites scored the coveted golden Oscar statuettes.

Best Picture: 'Argo'
The Academy may have blown it by not nominating Ben Affleck for Best Director, but he got his shot to hit the stage with Oscar in hand when Argo took home the night's biggest honor. Fellow producers George Clooney and Grant Heslov stood aside to let Affleck bask in the limelight. Between his manic and excited thank-yous, Affleck reflected on how far he's come since he won more than 15 years ago for Good Will Hunting.

Best Actress: Jennifer Lawrence, 'Silver Linings Playbook'
Jennifer Lawrence may have fallen on her way up to the stage, but she was nothing but graceful when she made her speech. Lawrence thanked the fellow women in Hollywood for being inspirational, kind, and welcoming her into the mix.

Best Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis, 'Lincoln'
Daniel Day-Lewis made Oscar history as the only person to win the Best Actor honor three times. His Lincoln statuette will go on the mantle alongside those for My Left Foot (1990) and There Will Be Blood (2008).

Best Supporting Actor: Christoph Waltz
Christoph Waltz earned his second Oscar in just as many nominations for his role in Django Unchained. Waltz paid much gratitude to his fellow cast and nominees, but ultimately said he owed the award to the "brilliance" of Quentin Tarantino, the "hero of their hero's journey."

Best Support Actress: Anne Hathaway
Anne Hathaway kept her winning streak alive on Hollywood's biggest night. Hathaway, the clear favorite, did a good job staying humble when she took the stage. She thanked her fellow nominees, cast and her husband, summing up her speech with a tribute to her character by saying. "I hope one day... the misfortunes of Fantine will only be found in stories and never in real life."

Best Director: Ang Lee, 'Life of Pi'
Ang Lee earned a standing ovation after beating out the likes of Steven Spielberg and David O. Russell to earn his second Best Directing Oscar (the first for Brokeback Mountain).

Best Adapted Screenplay: Chris Terrio 'Argo'
Chris Terrio has been cleaning up this awards season, and that continued at the biggest ceremony of the year. Terrio dedicated his win to Ben Affleck and the inspiration for Ben's character, Tony Mendez.

Best Original Screenplay: Quentin Tarantino, 'Django Unchained'
Quentin Tarantino was his normal weird, energetic self when he beat out some stiff competition for the Best Original Screenplay oscar. Tarantino ingratiated himself amongst his fellow nominees before declaring this the "year of the writer." Then he left the stage by saying, "Peace out." Classic Tarantino.

Best Film Editing: 'Argo'
William Goldenberg had two shots to win for Best Film Editing — he was nominated for his work on Argo AND Zero Dark Thirty. Ultimately it was Argo that earned him the gold statuette, and he made sure to thank Ben Affleck for the win.

Best Original Song: 'Skyfall'
Adele delivered one of the night's highlights when she performed the theme from Skyfall. She was rewarded for her efforts shortly thereafter with one of those little gold men everyone's so crazy about.

Best Animated Short: 'Paperman'
John Kahrs took home an Oscar for Paperman, a short about a missed connection and the magic of love mixes with a few paper airplanes. You can watch the short here.

Best Animated Feature Film: 'Brave'
Mark Andrews wore the appropriate Brave-inspired kilt when he took the stage to accept his Oscar of Pixar's Brave. Fellow winner Brenda Chapman thanked her daughter Emma, who she said was the inspiration for the film's heroine.

Best Cinematography: 'Life of Pi'
After being nominated the first time for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Claudio Miranda actually won his second time around for Life of Pi. Miranda was visibly shaken trying to put his thank-yous together, but he made sure to single out director Ang Lee for his vision.

Best Visual Effects: 'Life of Pi'
Life of Pi won back to back Oscars, the second of the night going to the film's visual effects team. For a movie that was mostly shot in front of a green screen, so much depended on the special effects of post-production, so you could say this was well deserved.

Best Costume Design: 'Anna Karenina'
Jacqueline Duran kept her speech short and sweet when she won for creating the costumes of period piece Anna Karenina, thanking her family, and the film's cast and crew.

Best Makeup & Hairstyling: 'Les Miserables'
While The Hobbit was the favorite, Les Miserables swept in and won the Oscar for Makeup & Hairstyling. Lisa Westcott and Julie Dartnell accepted the statuette, the first for Les Mis of the night.

Best Foreign Film: 'Amour'
It was almost a guarantee Amour would win Best Foreign Language Film. After all, it was the only one in the category that was also up for Best Picture. Director Michael Haneke thanked his wife of 30 years, who he called "the center of his life."

Best Documentary Feature: 'Searching for Sugar Man'
Malik Bendjelloul and Simon Chinn knew exactly who to thank when they won for Best Doc. They expressed their gratitude for "one of the best singers of all time," Rodriguez.

Best Live Action Short Film: 'Curfew'
Shawn Christensen beat the playoff music to cram in all his thank-yous which ended with his wife, who he referred to as his "heart."

Best Documentary Short: 'Inocente'
Sean Fine and Andrea Nix Fine dedicated their win for Inocente to the subject of the film, a young homeless woman who is aslo an artist.

Best Sound Mixing: 'Les Miserables'
On a night that the Academy Awards celebrated music in the movies, it made sense that Best Sound Mixing would go to a musical. Andy Nelson, Mark Paterson, and Simon Hayes accepted the award.

Best Sound Editing: 'Zero Dark Thirty' & 'Skyfall'
Perhaps one of the biggest surprises of the night was when Skyfall and Zero Dark Thirty BOTH won Oscars for the same category. It was the first tie at the Academy Awards since 1968.

Best Production Design: 'Lincoln'
Production designer Rick Carter and set decorator Jim Erickson brought us back to the Civil War with their work on Lincoln. For their efforts, the Academy honored the two men with an Oscar.

Best Original Score: 'Life of Pi'
"I share this wonderous award with our visionary captain, Ang Lee" — so began Mychael Danna's acceptance speech after winning for scoring Life of Pi.
