Stars Who Didn't Go to Prom

                                 Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus spent her teen years playing Hannah Montana, so it's no surprise that she had to miss out on a few of the high school rituals that the rest of us get to enjoy. "I should be [going to prom], but I'm not… I am shooting my movie during prom days, so I won't be there." Cryus said at the CMT Awards in 2008. Nowadays the starlet gets to wear fancy dresses to Hollywood events and hang out with Hunger Games hottie Liam Hemsworth, so we're guessing she's okay with missing out on her prom.

                               Josh Hutcherson

Because of his busy acting career, Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson got his high school diploma via home schooling. While that arrangement made it easy for Josh to take on roles, it made him miss out on the magic of corsages and spiked punch bowls. “I never got to go to a real prom. Not once. It’s kinda sad,” he told Teen Vogue.

                                 Robin Thicke and Paula Patton
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton have been dating since they were in high school, but that doesn't mean they went to prom together. According to Patton, she didn't want to take her beau to prom because he was white. "I didn't want people to know [we were dating]. I didn't want people to call me a sellout or an Oreo, because I'd gotten that my whole life and it wasn't the truth." The actress says that she regrets her decision, though. "That's the sad part. I missed it because I was afraid. I didn't choose him because of his color."

                     Paul Wesley
He's perpetually stuck in high school on The Vampire Diaries, but Paul Wesley was more than happy to say goodbye to high school when he was cast in a soap opera during his junior year at Marlboro High School. "Girls didn't like me that much. I didn't even go to my prom," Wesley told Teen Vogue in 2009.

                          Madonna
Madonna's been the belle of the pop music ball for three decades, but during her high school days she was just another girl who didn't get to go to her own prom. According to Madge, she "sat home alone. Couldn't get a date." Don't worry Madonna, everyone knows performing at the Super Bowl is better than going to the prom anyway.

                             Mena Suvari
Mena Suvari was a high school hottie in American Pie, but in real life the actress wasn't exactly popular. "I didn't have that many friends. I had one or two friends but didn't go to the prom," Suvari once revealed during an interview. "It was just very much about graduating and making it through."

                             Owen Wilson
Owen Wilson didn't attend prom, but that's just because there was no prom to attend! "I didn't go to the prom; I was at military school," the Wedding Crashers star admitted to People. Wilson was sent to the New Mexico Military Institute after being expelled from Dallas' St. Marks when he was a just a sophomore.

                                Bristol Palin

In 2008, Bristol Palin was a little bit busy with her mother's vice presidential campaign and an unplanned pregnancy to attend her high school prom. Also, she apparently didn't have the money. "I don't have that kind of time. And the dress is, like, $400, and the shoes, hair, makeup—it's way too expensive," she said. The young mom admitted that she was disappointed to have missed out on the fun, saying it "kind of sucked, to tell you the truth."

                                James Franco
No surprises here—James Franco was too much of an artsy hipster to attend his prom. "My girlfriend at the time was an actress and my prom was actually on my 18th birthday, but there was also a trip to Aspen, Oregon to go see the plays. So, we opted to see the plays. We had our own little prom," Franco said in a 1999 interview.

                                Sherri Shepherd
Looks like Sherri Shepherd may be making up for lost boogying time on Dancing With the Stars this season. The View host missed out on her prom at Hoffman Estates High School near Chicago, but later made up for it when she attended an alma mater dance with WWE superstar MVP, who also didn't attend his prom.

                                          Amy Sedaris
"I didn't go to the prom, but I worked the prom," Strangers With Candy star Amy Sedaris revealed to the AV Club. It's unclear whether Sedaris decorated the gym, worked the punch bowl, or tallied the votes for Prom Queen, but either way it sounds like she at least got to have some small semblance of a prom experience.
