Over the Thanksgiving weekend, Breaking Dawn pulled in a cool $62.3 million. It toppled every other film, including high-profile new releases.
This brings the US total to $221.3M since its release on November 18th!
The new installment of The Twilight Saga beat out the Muppetsmovie, which scored $42M during its first weekend.
Happy Feet Two, Arthur Christmas and Hugo rounded out the top five movies in theaters during this 5-day period, scoring $18M, $17M and $15M respectively.
During the same period in 2008, Twilight grossed $39.5M.
This is a new addition to the already impressive box office records for Breaking Dawn part 1–it’s now the 8th highest-grossing Thanksgiving weekend ever, directly behind New Moon at #7, which made about $66.2M in 2009
